A New Era for ZIGZAG
Chef Mark Connell is a modern Aspen culinary force—recognized for thoughtful, ingredient-led cuisine that’s elevated, but never precious. His journey started early in Reno, then sharpened through Colorado Mountain College in Vail under mentors David Whieler and Paul Ferzaca, with additional study at ICIF in Piemonte, Italy and pastry training at CIA Napa, where he was named “Most Valuable Patissier.”
His resume includes some of the most influential kitchens in the country—The French Laundry, Alinea, Studio, Salts, and Straight Wharf—before stepping into leadership roles of his own. In Santa Fe, he earned Restaurant of the Year at State Capital Kitchen, then returned to Colorado to open Parc Aspen, winning Best Restaurant two years in a row and Best Chef in 2025.
